Outstanding teacher training
South Pennine Academies’ teacher training provision, The Huddersfield Horizon SCITT, has been graded by Ofsted as OUTSTANDING across all four areas, including the quality of training and leadership and management.
The Ofsted report recognised the ‘”significant contribution to the quality and supply of teachers for schools in the region’ made by the SCITT. It said ‘’leaders and partnership schools share an absolute commitment to achieving excellence in all aspects of the SCITT’s work” and leaders “go above and beyond in every respect”.
The ITE curriculum, including core and school based training, was recognised as preparing trainees exceptionally well for joining the profession as teachers in Primary and Secondary schools. Indeed, trainees are “effusive about all aspects of their training”.
Commenting on the report, Emily Beach, Director of The Huddersfield Horizon SCITT said: “I am thrilled that our vision of a collaborative, supportive and forward-thinking partnership has been recognised. We are a true partnership, and it is a real privilege to work with our schools and our staff in developing the next generation of teachers.”
